The organisation has lived through many things and has changed 3 chairpersons for 5 years of its existence; however the main goals are still the same - free Belarus along side with free Lithuania in free Europe.
During the festive General Conference JuBIC elected a new Council, which in its turn decided upon Mariana Iljina as a new chairperson. Mariana joined JuBIC four years ago, starting up as a volunteer in one of organisation's projects and ending up as its head.
Members wished to the brand new chair that JuBIC would meet more often and had more discussions between themselves. Also it was stressed that while getting older, more experienced and more professional JuBIC would remain loyal to its ideals: the most important thing is to stick together, both as people and as countries.
Many new tasks lie ahead of the new chairperson and Council: an educational Election Observation Project in neighbouring counties, which JuBIC oversees along with partners from Lithuania and Scandinavia, goes ahead as planned; a series of singing poetry concerts continues and in November it will culminate with a festival; filming of a documentary on the Belarusian-Lithuanian-European interrelations is about to start very soon.
Preserving and increasing the cooperation with Belarusian Human Rights House in Vilnius, European Humanities University and looking for new partners in Belarus, Lithuania and other countries remain as the main priorities for the future work.
During the General Conference it was pointed out that the organisation needs 'fresh blood,' so that getting older JuBIC would not lose its dynamics, enthusiasm, and ability to react fast on new tendencies in European-Belarusian relations.
